For any immigration or study visa process IELTS is a mandatory English Language Proficiency exam. In some cases other alternative exams are accepted, however, IELTS is a universally known English Language proficiency exam and accepted everywhere.

IELTS in India is conducted by IDP India. For Immigration/ PR process you would be required to undertake the General Module of the IELTS exam and for study programs you are required to undertake the Academic module of IELTS. Both computer based and paper based exams are available now.
